To those who haven't kept up with world news yet, this what happened earlier today:
An earthquake measured 8.9 in richter scale occured earlier today somewhere off the coast of Sumatera, Indonesia in the Indian Ocean and generated tsunamis/tidal waves reaching up to 10meters in height sweeping across coastal areas around South East Asia. Sri Lanka seemed to be the one hit hard, followed by Southern India, Thailand and other smaller islands around the region. It hit Malaysia too, luckily my gf who lives in the western part was in campus in the eastern part. It's really sad, we felt the tremors here in Singapore but there was'nt any damage or deaths. But we definitely feel the pain and loss as it's very close to home. I still can't fully grasp huge tidal waves wiping out islands and coastal towns and villages, it's like something out of the movie Day After Tomorrow cept it's really happening now. It's scary and a really sad tragedy.
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia…I tuned in at around 4pm and the average death toll was around 1k+ and tonight at 2am it seems to have risen to nearly 10k...
Hope everyone who's on DA in the affected areas and countries are ok.
